MATRA Local Safety and Security Albania 2017-2020
The MATRA Local Safety and Security in Albania is a four-year programme that consists of three components, each targeting different actors. The first component focuses on municipal public safety and security actors (municipal staff, police, fire brigade). The second component deals with citizens and their representative actors (community councils/liaisons). And the third component covers local Government Associations and high-level officials from the national government. The outcomes of each component are linked to each other, and several activities are intertwined and designed to bring target groups from all levels together.
Main goal
The project aims to improve the effectiveness and responsiveness of local public safety and security policies in Albania by supporting local security actors to involve citizens in the development and implementation of these policies.
Objectives
- Improving the effectiveness and responsiveness of local public safety and security policies in Albania;
- Supporting local security actors to involve citizens in the development and implementation of such policies; and
- Increasing capacity at community, municipal and central government levels to effectively develop and implement effective and responsive public safety and security policies.
